The Caterham Festival has grown in leaps and bounds, expanding its scope year after year. From captivating live performances to art exhibitions, inspiring workshops to exhilarating sports competitions, the festival offers a diverse array of experiences for all.

At the heart of the Caterham Festival is our strong sense of community. It's organised by the incredible people of Caterham, for the incredible people of Caterham. We believe in fostering connections, supporting local talent, and creating unforgettable memories together.

A WORD FROM OUR CHAIRMAN...

Hello Caterham!

I hope you have all wintered well, and are looking forward to our 2025 season of events.

We are delighted that the improvements to Caterham Valley will be completed this year, and we can bring back the Caterham Festival Food Festival, which will be on Sunday 12 October – hopefully bigger and better than ever before!

The committee has been meeting regularly over the winter months, and we are delighted to confirm that the following events will be taking place, and look forward to welcoming you to come along and have a great time.

The Caterham Festival Street Party will be held on Sunday 1 June, with a great variety of stalls, bands and displays for your entertainment.

From Sunday 1 to Monday 9 June we are liaising with local libraries to hold the Caterham Festival Literary Festival, including authors attending to celebrate all things literary.

We're holding our Caterham Festival Scarecrow Fest again in June. Learning lessons from last year, anything goes in terms of theme, and we are making it easier to submit details of your scarecrow, allowing us to judge and publicise them. We want you to use your imagination and build your scarecrow however you like!

The Caterham Festival Barn Dance is on Saturday 7 June, and will be held, as usual, at Sunnydown School. Tickets for a great evening of dancing, food and laughter are available via our website.

The Caterham Festival Finale Fun Day, our last major event of the summer, will be on Saturday 21 June, and will run throughout the afternoon with the return of the classic vehicles, games for all the family, DJ and choir providing entertainment, and on into the evening with the Oxted Brass Band providing our tribute to the Last Night of the Proms.

I would like to thank everyone on the committee and all our supporters who put a tremendous amount of time and energy into planning, arranging and running these events on the day, for all to enjoy.

We are extremely grateful to all the businesses that advertise with and sponsor us, which helps to cover some of the costs of putting on these events. It goes without saying that without these contributions we would not be able to bring you the Caterham Festival. I would encourage people to support these businesses as they are an essential part of the community.

The ethos of the Caterham Festival is that it is run by the people, for the people, and for the most part, free for all. For this to happen, we rely on donations – we will have our collection buckets and card readers doing the rounds at each event. Imagine if everyone who attended gave £1! That would make a massive difference, and allow us to continue putting on our events.

We are also always looking for more volunteers to help us on the day of each event – setting up, closing down – just an hour or two here or there would be fantastic. You don't have to be part of the committee, just available for a short period of time. If you are interested, please get in touch at info@caterhamfestival.org.

We're looking forward to a fabulous Caterham Festival this year, and hope that you can come along to support us, and have a fantastic time. We also hope that the sun shines kindly on us!
